Police in Kibwezi Sub-county have launched investigations after the body of a middle-aged man was discovered on Sunday inside a water storage container at a homestead in Ngulu Ward, Makueni County.
According to local reports, the body was spotted by a resident who had gone to fetch water. Authorities were immediately notified, prompting officers from the area to visit the scene.
Ngulu Assistant Chief Florence Ngata confirmed the incident, stating that the body appeared to have been dumped in the container. The man’s identity is yet to be established, and it remains unclear how he ended up in the tank or how long he had been there.
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) documented the scene before transferring the body to Makindu Sub-county Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Police have urged members of the public to provide any information that may assist in the ongoing probe. No suspects had been arrested by the time of this report.
The incident has raised alarm among residents, who are calling for increased patrols and improved security measures within the area. Investigations are ongoing to establish whether foul play was involved.
